PASCO's exclusive probeware software collects, displays and analyzes scientific data. Used with PASCO sensors, DataStudio automatically graphs the results of experiments and allows students to analyze results, manipulate data and compare relationships.

DataStudio is the only interfacing software you need to acquire data from any of PASCO's PASPORT and ScienceWorkshop interfaces and sensors. It is compatible with Windows and Macintosh.

Data Studio

Requirements

Easy Drag-and-Drop Setup
One-step Setup – Drag any display icon over any sensor icon and DataStudio automatically plugs the sensor in and creates the display. When you drag a sensor icon over the interface, DataStudio knows where that sensor can be plugged in, so it conveniently highlights the correct, available ports.

DataStudio’s drag-and-drop operation makes experiment setup easy and intuitive even for novice computer users. You can design basic experiments in seconds or advanced experiments in minutes.

More Features:

Enhanced Graphing - Students can overlay many different quantities on the same graph to see their relationship to each other. They can plot the theoretical function on top of actual data and use curve fitting to analyze the results.

Five-channel Oscilloscope and Signal Generator - Up to five traces can be displayed on the computer oscilloscope simultaneously. DataStudio can generate nine different output signals (using a 700 or 750 Interface).

Edit Data Points - By creating an editable copy of a data table, data points can be edited or deleted. A copy of the data is edited so the original data is retained.

Demonstration-size Display - Show digits or an analog meter as large as you want them. These displays can be enlarged to fill the computer screen so the whole class can see at once.

Calculator - Use the built-in calculator to calculate quantities such as momentum or kinetic energy using your data. The equations can be typed in using the usual variable names, and the calculated quantities can be graphed in real time or displayed in a table just like any other data.

Real-time Data Displays - All displays (graphs, digital displays, meters, FFTs, oscilloscopes) show data in real time as the data is being taken.

Curve-fit Data - DataStudio has the ability to curve-fit your data live as you collect it. It can do many types of fits (including a linear fit, polynomial, logarithmic, sine, etc.), or you can even define your own function to fit to your data.

Plot Imported Data and Functions - DataStudio's powerful analysis tools can be used even without an interface by importing data from other sources (spreadsheets, the web or manually typed in). In addition, your students can enter an equation, plot the function and superimpose it over the actual experiential data.

On-screen Help - DataStudio is easy to use, but with all its versatility, there are bound to be questions. Your students don’t need to find the manual ... it's right on the screen. Just click Help to use the electronic manual.

Ohaus compatibility - DataStudio is now compatible with Ohaus' Scout II, Explorer and Navigator serial-enabled balances. Demonstrate mass change as it happens.

Includes:
• DataStudio program for Windows and Macintosh computers
• Free 30-day trial of WAVEPORT, PASCO's interactive sound module
• Interactive multimedia training tutorial
• On-line help (over 600 topics) and pop-up tool hints
• Six OHAUS Workbooks (Windows), and eight Science Sleuth (PS-2717) activities

Teacher Resources available for use with DataStudio:

Physics Electronic Workbooks on CD - These computer-based workbooks are a collection of commonly used experiments in high school and college. Different CDs are geared toward the ScienceWorkshop 500 Interface, ScienceWorkshop 750 Interface and PASPORT Sensors

PASPORT Probeware Lab Manuals - PASCO's Exploration Series for High School covers General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics.

Teacher Resource Kits - Designed for grades 5 through 9, each TRK is a combination of written and electronic materials organized to make it easy for you to plan, prepare and guide your students through innovative lessons incorporating sensor technology.

ScienceWorkshop Lab Manuals - Lab manuals are available for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Science, Earth Science and Math in Science. These are designed for the ScienceWorkshop 500 and 750 interfaces. The Student Workbook has detailed instructions for students and the Teacher's Guide includes a CD containing DataStudio files with sample data.

Classroom Textbooks Adaptations - Several popular science textbook publishers have partnered with PASCO to present DataStudio experiments that correspond to their published curriculum.

FREE Software - FREE Upgrades for Life

PASCO provides DataStudio Lite software with each PASPORT purchase, and it can be downloaded for free. With this free version of DataStudio, students can:

• Use EZScreens for simple science activities (for use with PASPORT only)
• Conduct eLabs using existing Electronic Workbooks
• Display data in graph, table or digits formats
• Graph a single variable Vs. time

Upgrade to DataStudio to capture the full value
To experience the true power of DataStudio, upgrade to the full version. The full version includes more data displays, gives you a full set of analysis tools and allows you to create and edit Electronic Workbooks.

Buy a site license for DataStudio and you'll be eligible for any core upgrade of DataStudio at no charge!

Upgrade to DataStudio full version if you want to:
• Write your own or modify existing Electronic Workbooks
